A delegation of hotel industry of Japan associated with Olympic games 2020 paid visit to Surat city in Gujarat to study Surti style Gujarati cuisine.
The delegation visited cooking expert Sneha Thakkar to get tips. The delegation also visited popular food outlets in Surat to choose dishes that can be served to international visitors during Olympic games 2020 in Japan.
Accordin to Yoshihiro Maruyama, Surat is famous for its food. In year 2020 Japan shall be visited by international guests during Olympic. So far the concept of Indian cuisine is just limited to Punjabi food. This visit to India is aimed at exploring varieties other than Punjabi dish.
Japanese delegation particularly liked Bhinda(Ladies finger) and Patudi(Khandvi). They took away Bhinda to Japan.
