April 09, 2014
Vadodara, 9 April 2014
Narendra Modi, Anandiben Patel, Saurabh Patel, Om Mathur, R Faldu and Parshottam Rupala were standing in open jeep with Shri Narendra Modi during the road show. The crowd opposite Narendra Modi’s jeep was so big that Modi and others had to request them to speedily move ahead for number of times. Once Modi was seen asking Saurabh Patel to ensure speedy movement of jeep, on other occasion Modi asked a security person to do the same job. However the enthusiasm was so much that none could do anything.
Modi was apparently wanted to complete the road show on time because he had four rallies to address across Maharashtra.
Today’s road show was of course a massive security risk taken by Modi. He was out in open for over an hour with a massive crowd of thousands of people. This was Modi’s first road show of present election campaign season.
Modi’s road show was talk of the town in Vadodara. Not only those who live near the road show route, but people from all areas of Vadodara were seen rushing to watch a glimpse of Modi.
Modi’s road show was telecast live by almost all major national news TV channels.
The route of road show was: Kirti stambh – Rajmahel road – Nyay mandir – Padmavati shopping center – Gandhinagar gruh – Amdavadi pol – Raopura tower – Machhipeeth – Collector office.
At Collector office
Narendrabhai reached Collector office before 11.30. He and others were joined by BJP organizational man Kakubhai (Parindu Bhagat) for documents and procedure related help. Also present was senior most minister Nitin Patel. Sitting on one side of Modi was a tea vendor who is also BJP worker. On the other side was Rajmata of Vadodara Shubhangini Raje Gaikwad. Both played a role of approver of Modi’s candidature.
Brief address to media after filing nomination
I am thankful to people of Vaddoara for a grand welcomed and honor they gave me today.
Vadodara has been my karmabhoomi. I lived in this city for many years, some 200 steps away from this location(Collector office). Now I will get an opportunity to work as its representative.
I started from the land of Saurashtra, then moved to north Gujarat, and today I am fortunate that my party has given me opportunity to come to central Gujarat.
I was born in Vadnagar which was a part of Gaikwad state. Gaikwad state has a great tradition of encouraging girl child education, water conservation and setting up libraries. I have been benefited through this legacy of Gaikwad. My primary school was built by Gaikwad state. And even today Sayajirav Gaikwad’s name is well known even today for his welfare activities.
His book Minor Hint gives inspiration to rulers and administrators even today. I always insist that new recruit probation IAS, IPS, IFS officers in our govt read this book. Gaikwad’s idea of good governance inspires us even today. My party has selected me for this task in same city. I have full faith that all voters of Vadodara will celebrate the festival of democracy with joy and will press lotus symbol button on 30th April to make BJP victorious.
