Ahmedabad, 25 April 2014
Gujarat High Court today granted conditional permission to Baba Ramdev for holding Shibirs in Vadodara and Ahmedabad on 26/27 April. The main condition suggests that Baba Ramdev will need to give assurance in writing to local police that no political banners will be put up at the venues.
“The petitioner Trust shall not campaign in favour of any political party,” said a division bench of Justices M R Shah and R P Dholeria.
It should be mentioned here that Baba Ramdev’s Yoga Shibirs are organized in Vadodara on 26 April and Ahmedabad on 27 April. Vadodara Congress candidate Madhusudan Mistry had objected Ramdev’s shibirs and asked local authority to cancel permission to Ramdev’s shibirs before polls. Mistry feared that Ramdev would favor BJP through his shibirs. Police permission to Ramdev’s shibirs were canceled yesterday following which Ramdev’s organization went to High Court to challenge it.
Gujarat is going to poll on 30th April.
