Leading publishers Random House has announced the Ahmedabad launch of its new book “ Centrestage : Inside the Narendra Modi model of Governance ‘ by senior journalist of India Today, Uday Mahurkar. The book will be launched by eminent Gujarati litterateur Gunwant Shah and known journalist Ajay Umat, editor of Navgujarat Samay, on May 9 , Friday, at 5 pm at JB Auditorium, Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) , Ahmedabad.
The foreward to the book is written by eminent economist, Jagdish Bhagwati . Former director, IIMA, Dr Bakul Dholakia, has written a preface to the book while the introduction to the book is by known US-based business marketing expert, Dr Jagdish Sheth. The book has received very good opinion from Spiritual Guru of art of living Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, economists Bibek Debroy and Surjit Bhalla, political analyst Mr Swapan Dasgupta , Gujarati author Gunwant Shah and Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur.
‘Centrestage’ in many ways is a landmark work totally different from the ones published so far on Modi. Swapan Dasgupta says that this the first meaningful book on Modi and his work and so is a must-read.The book is totally a political and focuses on Modi’s core Governance in key areas like power, agriculture, water, finance management and use of technology in governance besides his many visionary initiatives. It gives a deep insight as to what is at the centre of his core beliefs when it comes to governance. It is also replete with personal anecdotes, which makes this work very interesting. This is because few people know the inner-self of Mr Modi.
All this is based on Uday Mahurkar’s interaction with him since 1986-87 when he entered the BJP. The book explores whether the Modi model has answers to country’s teething problems. It shows how Modi’s governance is marked by vision and innovation. It also critically evaluates him in areas like power, agriculture water and finance and therefore is balanced. The book importantly brings out how Modi has emerged as a symbol of the fight against dole culture and vote bank politics which are sapping India’s energy and how he is prepared to take risks for good governance. There are a number of sterling examples of how Modi has withstood political pressures for good governance.
