Varanasi, 7 May, 2014
Late in the evening on Wednesday, the Returning Officer of Varanasi Mr. Yadav held a joint press briefing with local police officer. Yadav said he has granted permission to four out of five events of Mr. Modi. Yadav said he denies permission to Mr. Modi’s rally in Varanasi due to ground’s central location and local IB inputs. He said the administration has permitted Mr. Modi’s meeting with city’s prominent citizens in hotel. He said he has also granted permission to do Ganga aarti to Mr. Modi. Mr. Yadav clarified that administration has denied permission to hold event to one Mr. Khan too on same ground.
The question is, how BJP will be able to invite the people, hold events in such a short notice? While Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi’s events are permitted, why Modi is denied permission to hold event on same location? Isn’t it for the first time that a candidate is denied permission to do rally on open ground in his constituency?
