Gandhinagar, 8 May, 2014
Following is Gujarat government’s spokesperson minister Nitin Patel’s statement translated to English:
Gujarat Congress’s leader Shaktisinh Gohil has through a press release today tried to mislead the people by stating that Gujarat Cheif Minister Narendra Modi doesn’t belong to OBC(other backward class) and he is a member of prosperous and rich caste. Congress leaders continuously attempt to mislead the people, and as per their same style of functioning they have spread this lie.
Shaktisinh has no idea about the fact that in 1994 when he was a minister in then Chhabildas Mehta minister, on 25 July 1994, Gujarat government had
36 backward castes that were included in Mandal commission, but not by Gujarat’s Bakshi commission(Other Backward Class or OBC) were added to OBC through Gujarat government’s Social Welfare department’s resolution number SaShaP./1994/1411/A on 25 July 1994. Number 25(B) of this resolution mentioned Modh Ghanchi caste. Shri Narendra Modi belongs to this Modh Ghanchi caste.
Gujarat Congress leaders are so demoralized at present that they don’t remember their own government’s decisions. Shaktisinh Gohil has alleged that Narendra Modi became Chief Minister in year 2001 and on 1 January 2002 he wrongly included his caste in OBC. Shaktisinh’s this allegation is totally lie. Actually Modha Ghanchi caste was under Bakshi Commission since 1994. At present when entire nation is showering love on Narendra Modi with full faith, Gujarat Congress leaders spread lies to mislead the people of Gujarat and nation. The state government condemns such act.
Note: Gujarat government has attached a copy of year 1994 resolution with its statement
