My democratic right has been violated: Modi at Rohaniya rally

Varanasi, 8 May, 2014

Speaking at Rohaniya rally(part of Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on rural side) BJP prime ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi questioned district authority’s decision to not to allow his rally within Varanasi town.

Modi said:Those who are in problem, managed to stop my rally in Kashi. And the reason is not convincing. They said they are not permitting Modi’s rally due to security reasons. How far is Kashi from this place(Modi’s rally venue)? 12 kms? If Modi’s rally is not under security threat here, how it is under security threat just 12 kms away from here? I have traveled to Maoists affected areas, Jammu and Kashmir and the land of bomb blasts. This father/son government here(Mulayam/Akhilesh govt)can’t provide security to one person? I am ready to die for sake of Bharat Mata, why are they stopping me?

Modi further said: Ten days back Shindeji told media persons that there was no threat to Modi’s security, and government had made all provisions for security. Four days back their minister Chidambaram said Modi had already addressed 400 rallies and there’s no threat to his security. And now suddenly security issues are brought! They have violated my democratic rights. Isn’t this partiality or not? Shouldn’t Modi get similar rights that are given to any other common candidate? Should elections not be free and fair?

He said: They stopped me from going to Maa Ganga also. I am duty bound by laws of the land I am bearing your insults but I can tell you, that people of India will not forgive this. The Election Commission can not make them victorious who are defeated by people.

Will the world stop if Modi doesn’t speak? There’s more power in my silence than even in my words: Modi said.

He said: If not today, I will come to Maa Ganga tomorrow. I will seat in its lap and its feet and serve the people.
