Mumbai, May 09 (ANI):
The BSE Sensex and Nifty hit a record high on Friday, posting their biggest daily gains since September. The benchmark BSE Sensex climbed to a new record high of 22,959.33 points in late afternoon trade on a flurry of buying in banking, realty, power and metal sector stocks by funds and retail investors amid increased foreign capital inflows. The NSE index Nifty also rose 186.35 points, or 2.80 per cent, to trade at 6,846.20. According to reports, the stock market witnessed these jumps on high hopes that the BJP would win a majority in elections set to conclude next week.
