Gujarat capital has become the capital of India’s political activities, thanks to Shri Narendra Modi.
On Monday, party’s former president Nitin Gadkari and former Meghalaya Chief Minister/Lok Sabha speaker PA Sangma called on Narendra Modi at Chief Minister’s residence. Tomorrow BJP’s national president Shri Rajnath Singh and Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Shri Arun Jaitley are likely to visit Gujarat capital to meet Shri Narendra Modi.
Shri Nitin Gadkari who met Shri Modi yesterday will visit Gandhinagar again tomorrow.
The main agenda of tomorrow’s meetings seems ground work for post-poll alliances.
It should be mentioned that today while speaking to media persons, Sharad Pawar-led NCP leader Praful Patel said NCP is responsible party and would like to have a stable government in centre. Patel said this when asked whether NCP will extend external support to NDA or not. Patel said it is very clear that NDA will form government in centre.
However it is not clear whether this was Patel’s individual opinion or his party’s. It is well known that he is not in good terms with Ajit Pawar, the second in command in NCP at present. Patel even skipped NCP’s meeting of Lok Sabha candidates recently. It has to be noted that Narendra Modi skipped Patel’s constituency during campaign in Maharashtra.
But NCP is just one party, there are some other potential allies too who have thrown signals at BJP conveying the message that they wish to join the NDA actively or through external support. Like say, BJD chief whip indicated conditional support to NDA.
“Keeping in view the opinion of the whole country and the state’s interest, there should be no problem in providing conditional support to NDA to form government at the Centre,” Tripathy told a news channel adding that the party would support NDA if BJP leaders promise to accord special category status to Odisha, a long-standing demand of the state.
The other talks could be on possible moves to be made in connection with procedures of government formation including the procedures related to Rashtrapati Bhavan, as it is very clear that BJP is going to emerge as the largest single party and NDA the largest pre-poll alliance post-results.
