While speaking at Vadodara Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today admired the voters of Vadodara for creating a new record by electing him by margin of 5,70,000 votes. Modi said non-political efforts of various organizations and society for voter awareness should be documented to guide similar drives ahead of future elections.
Shri Modi said, “I was told that in the general elections of Lok Sabha in country(not by-polls) no one has achieved margin of 5,70,000 votes till now. People of Vadodara have done this job and registered their name in history. I congratulate people of Vadodara for making this record.”
Modi pointed out that after independence, there was either Congress governments or coalition governments in country. Even Janata Party govt was mixture of several party. In Indian political history it is for the first time that non-Congress party has achieved clear majority in pure form.
Modi also reminded political pundits that during these elections it was for the first time that both parties – Congress and BJP were led by someone who took birth after independence.
