Narendra Modi addresses people of Maninagar(Video)

Ahmedabad, 20 May, 2014

Presented below are excerpts from Narendra Modi’s Maninagar speech on Tuesday evening:

“Today I’m standing here in a different role.”

“Maninagar has elected me trice by giving about 75% votes. Yes you elected me in 2012 for five years and my term ends in 2017, but I remember when I came to address a public meeting during 2012 campaign here, you were chanting PM…PM…. And I had to reply you that you should actually chant CM….CM and not PM…PM. You were voting to make CM, but were chanting slogans to make me a PM. And people’s voice is considered final after-all. Now people of Maninagar can proudly say that I could be Prime Minister for others, but for you I am your Narendrabhai only……… a person who used to walk around Kankaria, ride scooter, having tea at Jawahar chowk, and meal at Dakshini society. You can have the feeling of ownership.”

“The love extended to me by people of Maninagar can never be forgotten. Many dreams are fulfilled here in Maninagar and Ahmedabad East area, and I am going from here, but your dreams will continue to be fulfilled.”

“Very few people among you could be knowing that Maninagar will complete 100 years of its existence in 2015. I wish Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation celebrate it. AMC should involve local people and make a blue print of celebrations. Maninagar railway station has also its own history. During British era, reach people from Maninagar demanded railway station as stoppage in Maninagar, but English govt was not responding. The people here then offered to purchase certain number of tickets everyday. A contract was signed in this regard between the Britishers and people of Maninagar, and then the stopage was given to Maninagar.”

“Today Maninagar has emerged as education hub. And when such facility has been set up, future generation is going to benefit from it. Earlier ill people had to be taken to V S hospital, today L G hospital is here in Maninagar.”

“I have been awarded a new responsibility from today. I am here to seek your blessing. Thanks to your support, I will earn same success as Gujarat in Delhi with your well wishes.”

“I couldn’t visit Ahmedabad during last election, but every Gujarati became Narendra Modi and thanks to that, I could visit every corner of country.”
