Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today choose his twitter handle to announce that he has not received invitation to attend Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. He said he can’t considered whether to attend the function or not when invitation has not arrived.

“Let me say this here rather than individually to those asking – no, I haven’t received THE invitation. Can’t consider what hasn’t arrived.

He tweeted further: “Can’t help feel sorry for others taking oath or attending because the only photo op that will matter now will be the Modi-Sharif handshake.”

On Pakistan Prime Minister’s acceptance to attend the event Omar tweeted: Very glad to hear Pak PM has accepted invite, shows that he can prevail over forces inimical to good relations with India. I hope that this will mark a new beginning in ties between our two countries. The people of J&K will be watching closely.

Omar whose party has got zero seats in recently concluded Lok Sabha general elections had two days back tweeted: It must feel so strange for regional leaders with 30+ MPs to have no say in Delhi. Earlier they would sneeze & the Center’d catch a cold. Hopefully foreign policy, water sharing agreements & things like these can be dictated by what is in the national interest now onwards.
