Gujarat CM hails Rs.2,436-cr provision on women’s empowerment in State Budget

Gujarat’s first woman Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today said the State Budget for 2014-15 as presented by Finance Minister Saurabh Patel would infuse all round development of the state with empowerment of women, jobs for the youth and agricultural growth.
Commenting on the budget proposals, she said that with Rs.2,436-crore huge provision for various welfare schemes for the empowerment of women it could be described as Gender Budget. It heralds many schemes for the development of youth power, besides creating scope for development of health and education. It touched all activities of the government.
Mrs. Patel said that 33 per cent reservation for women in the police force, encouraging greater participation of women in animal husbandry, completing the canal network with raising the height of the dam on the Narmada are the other highlights of the budget papers.
She said it was for the first time that Rs.3,781-crore have been allotted to social sector including education, health, fighting malnutrition. The Amritam-Ma Yojna for women and middle class family with less than Rs.1.20-lakh income, encouraging farmers build godown to store foodgrains are also innovative schemes.
