Showers in pockets of south Gujarat and Saurashtra

Surat, 2 July, 2014

The southern Gujarat district Navsari today received considerably good rain in the morning. A round of shower caused brief water logging and obstruction in traffic for some time but gave relief to people from temperature.

Ideally, some shower in some district of Gujarat does not make news, but Gujarat is so thirsty and eager for rain at this juncture that a round of shower in Navsari is news.

As per the weather department(Government of India), the monsoon officially arrived in Gujarat only in southern parts upto Surat and some parts of Saurashtra last month. However there has been a long dry spell between the last round of shower and today’s rain.
