Color of bicycles given by govt discussed in assembly

Which is the company from which the Gujarat government purchases bicycles for free distribution under various schemes, and which is the color of these bicycle? A Congress MLA asked today in Gujarat Assembly to Minister Ramanbhai Vora.

To this Ramanbhai Vora replied that bicycles are purchased through Gujarat government agency GRIMCO.

He further replied that students are given saffron color bicycles because when they come late in the evening to home, the black color bicycle could be risky for them due to dark while saffron color would ensure safe ride.

It should be mentioned that saffron is the color identified with ruling BJP. Gujarat government under its schemes for Garib Kalyan Mela and school girls provide saffron color bicycles. Some of the students feel shy to use saffron color bicycles because such bicycles are publicly known as free bicycles given by government. Such students get their saffron color bicycle painted with different color, and then use it.
