Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal transferred to Mizoram

Gujarat Governor Dr. Kamla Beniwal who refused to resign even after communicated to do so by Union Home Secretary for more than once in last one month was today transferred to north eastern state Mizoram for the remainder of her term.
Former Congress Minister in Rajasthan, Beniwal’s term as Governor ends this year in November.
One of the most controversial Governors in Gujarat who has been number of time accused of converting Raj Bhawan into Congress Bhawan is 87 years old. She was originally made Governor of Tripura on recommendation of Congress-led UPA government in centre, but later was shifted to Gujarat. Now just before the end of her term she has been again shifted to north-eastern state. This time Mizoram.
As Beniwal has been transferred, Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva will discharge the functions of Gujarat Governor in addition to her own duties.
Mizoram Governor Vakkom Purushothaman has been shifted as Nagaland Governor for the remainder of his term. He will continue to hold additional charge.
