New Delhi, 9 July, 2014
Gujarat BJP MLA(from Naranpura seat in Ahmedabad), former Gujarat minister of state for Home(under Narendra Modi as Chief Minister), BJP’s national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh state incharge(under whom record number of Lok Sabha seat are won this year), President of Gujarat Cricket Association(succeeding Narendra Modi) Amit Anilchandra Shah has been made the national president of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP).
Born in 1964, Amit Shah at the age of 50 is going to become the youngest national President of BJP. Amit Shah is a person who has not lost any single election in his life right from the days of Akhil Bharatiya Vidharthi Parishad(ABVP) days.
Elections of Haryana, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir and Jharkhand will take place in next twelve months. Bihar will witness assembly polls by end of next year under Amit Shah’s leadership as national president.
It is very rare occasion when the prime minister and the president of ruling party in nation are from Gujarat. However, Shah is now known more for Uttar Pradesh and not Gujarat.
In fact Uttar Pradesh is the state which is key for any political party to get power in Delhi. Shah has emerged as face of BJP in Uttar Pradesh(assembly polls by May 2017). BJP doesn’t want to lose Uttar Pradesh at any cost now. Shah’s installation as national president will further make its position in Uttar Pradesh stronger.
But before that, for now Shah’s focus could be on a non-political event of his son Jay’s ring ceremony on 13th of this month.
Shah’s tuning with Narendra Modi is well-known. Modi would appoint his extremely faithful person as Home Minister. He assigned Amit Shah this job. Following encounter cases, Amit Shah had to leave power. He went underground for some days and then he surrendered and was sent to Sabarmati jail. Later he got conditional bail. The condition was to stay outside Gujarat. This condition also was relieved later on and Shah therefore could come back to Gujarat and contest Naranpura assembly election, which he won with thumping majority.
Shah’s fortune changed with emergence of Narendra Modi as national leader. Shah was given the post of national general secretary and later the charge of the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh that truly demonstrated his capabilities before the nation.
