Ahmedabad, 15 July, 2014
Former Gujarat Minister Mayaben Kodnani has filed bail plea in the Gujarat High Court. Hearing on Mayaben’s plea will be held tomorrow.
High Court Justice Anant Dave today said ‘not before me’ while refusing to hear the plea. Hearing tomorrow will be held by other judge therefore.
It should be mentioned here that the Supreme Court had in February this year refused to extend the interim bail of Kodnani in the 2002 Naroda Patiya riots case and asked her to seek a regular bail from the high court. The apex court had earlier extended her interim bail till February 24.
The trial court had in August 2012 awarded life imprisonment to Kodnani, Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi and 29 others for Naroda Patiya incident of 2002 riots in which 97 people were killed.
