A delegation of Rajkot Municipal Corporation(RMC) called on union Railway minister Sadanand Gowda in Delhi on Monday to make representation over the issue of Railnagar under bridge. The meeting was fruitful and brought quick solution of a long pending issue of RMC with railway.
The under bridge work has been stalled for last two years due to dispute between RMC and Railway. The Railway Minister instructed that the work has to start again in couple of days only.
According to Standing Committee Chairm Nitin Bhardwaj who was part of the delegation, the Railnagar issue was about additional charge imposed by Railway for under bridge work. When made representation on this, the Railway Minister clearly said that pending work for said under bridge must resume immediately, only within couple of days. The Minister was of opinion that dispute on charges to be levied could be resolved later on, but construction of bridge must not be stalled for that reason. Railway Minister asked his department officials why under bridge work was stalled for such a long time.
Sharing details on meeting with Railway Minister, Bhardwaj said when made representation, the Railway Minister immediately cleared pending permission for drainage pipe line laying work for Jamnagar slum quarter area. The task involves Railway land and therefore permission from Railway was essential.
A delegation from Rajkot also met union minister Nitin Gadkari and made representation over pending permission from Highway Authority for laying express feeder line for water supply and also a drainage pumping station line.
According to Standing Committee Chairman, the minister cleared permissions for both works immediately during the meeting itself.
