Ahmedabad, 10 July, 2014
The Gujarat High Court today rejected a plea challenging Gujarat government’s decision to hold draws again for priority allotments of affordable housing units build by the Gujarat Housing Board.
The state government can now hold new draw. However post-draw procedures are stayed by the court till 8 August. The applicants are allowed to challenge the court decision by then.
Those who won priority allotments in previous draw had challenged government’s decisions to scrap the draw and cancellation of allotments. It should be noted that the results of previous computerized draw were scraped following confirmation by the state government that the execution of software during the draw was faulty. The state government has already announced that the draw will be conducted again through the central government agency NIC. The issue involves over 8,000 housing units and more than 50,000 applicants.
