Bhuj mob violence videos surface on Youtube

Muslims in Kutch have lived peacefully and cordially with Hindus in Kutch district of Gujarat for centuries. The district has represented the best examples of communal harmony, patriotism and peace.

The incident of attack on police last Sunday, which was completely unnecessary, impulsive, irresponsible and stupid act caused tremendous damage to Bhuj’s peaceful image. The 200 Muslim odd youths were a total mismatch to peaceful, simple and cordial majority of Muslims in Kutch.

After three days of that incident, in which a police station was attacked, over two dozen vehicles were damaged and at least 8 persons were injured, three videos uploaded on youtube show shocking scenes of a group of youths on rampage.

In one video these youths are stoning a police man who is sitting in a police van.

In another video they are stoning a police vehicle which they have already turned down on 90 degree angle.

In one more video, they are setting police vehicle on fire.

‘Suvar’…. ‘Nara-e-takdir’ are some of the phrases audible in these videos.

The videos can be useful for police as evidence. Any peace lover, Kutch-Bhuj lover Hindu or Muslim would surely be disappointed with the story these videos tell.

Police have arrested 43 and 42 of them are on remand. Yes, for now peace is reestablished, but imagine for how long, if some posting on Facebook by an individual can push these youths to such violence.

Actions taken in this incident will be closely watched by all peace lovers and Kutch lovers.
