Rajkot, 2 September 2014
At least 200 Pakistani Hindu families residing in Rajkot city since the year 2005 have urged district collector to grant Indian citizenship for their 1,000 members .
Ganeshnagar in Rajkot is a home to these people migrated from Pakistan for last 9 years. As their visa permit has also expired , they are not able go back to Pakistan to seek extension of their residential permit in India. Also they are not permitted to move outside the limits of Rajkot city to any other place, which is a serious issue of concern for them.
They complain that their applications are not taken up by administration on priority basis. Most of the families belong to schedule caste & have social connections in Kutch but due to visa issues they cannot travel to any of the place at their ease.
Following their grievances these Pakistani Hindus organized a rally on Monday in Rajkot and called on the district collector of Rajkot demanding Indian citizenship and immediate actions for their travel permit not only in Gujarat but other areas as well.
