Surat, 5 September 2014
Railway Ministry has asked its officers to reduce expenses, and results are showing up.
For an example, look at this small but indicative development.
General Manager of Mumbai headquartered Western Railway is paying visit to Surat today in Shatabdi Express and not in a special train.
As per conventional practice, General Manager visits railway stations under his jurisdiction in a special nine-coach train with a team of other officers. Railway bears expanses of such special train travel. However today, General Manager Hemant Kumar and other officials are visiting Surat in first class coach of Shatabdi Express. Their return journey will also take place through Shatabdi only.
General Manager and others are visiting Surat for inspection at Surat and Udhna.
