Gujarat government has started pilot project of Hemoglobin test through Touch H machine from Pachvada Public Health Center in tribal Dahod district.
‘Touch H’ machine is like a small telescope. It has been conceived by Mumbai IIT team and manufactured by Bioscience company.
Conventionally in all government health facilities, blood test is conducted using needle, but ‘HB Touch’ machine doesn’t need needle.
‘Touch H’ is attached over one eye for a few seconds. It takes photo of conjunctiva and calculates percentage of Hemoglobin through reading it.
According to district collector M.A.Gandhi who was present during the launching of pilot project of Hemoglobin test through eye reading in govt facilities in Gujarat, Dahod district has been given opportunity to start this project in Gujarat. He said primary focus segment is pregnant ladies and children.
Presently lab technicians at local health centers puncture finger or vein using needle to check Hemoglobin count.
