Flood water entering Sayajigunj
Vadodara, 10 September 2014
At 12.30 am on Wednesday the level of water at Vishwamitri river was 31.3 ft according to fire control room.
Sama-Savli road was closed for traffic. People were rescued from Siddharth bungalow and Ganeshnagar.
Kalaghoda bridge was closed for traffic.
Meanwhile level of water at Aajwa reservoir is still above 214 ft mark. This indicates that Vishwamitri’s level will further go up during the night even beyond 32 ft mark.
Normally Vishwamitri river water mixes into Dhadhar river beyond Vadodara, however due to release of water from Dev dam, even Dhadhar river is overloaded, and therefore not taking Vishwamitri’s water. This is causing speedier increase in Vishwamitri level.
In another development, union minister and Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat Smriti Irani’s public meetings scheduled to take place today in Vadodara are cancelled.
