Surat, 17 October 2014
-Treat your daughter-in-law as your daughter.
-There’s no need to go to Besna if you have attended funeral.
These are broadly two messages that a convention of Saurashtra origin Patidar community in Surat wants to convey. A convention will he held at Gajera farm ground on Saturday evening at 9.00 pm.
The convention will also discuss other issues like traffic problem during funeral procession, rights to widows, post-death rituals etc.
Community members will take pledges and the message derived from this convention will be spread across the villages of Saurashtra and north Gujarat for wider impact.
The convention has been organized by Khodaldham Samiti, Kagvad.
It should be mentioned that earlier Mathur Savani-led convention in Surat had taken a decision to not to organize wedding procession obstructing traffic. Surat-led yatra from Surat to Somnath in past had explored villages, towns and cities to spread message of ‘beti bachao’.
