New Delhi, 21 October 2014
Senior BJP leader and union minister Arun Jaitley in his talk with ET Now news channel said that BJP would choose best option to form government in Maharashtra.
Jaitley said that BJP couldn’t achieve clear majority due to poor performance of alliance partners.
He said BJP increased its seat from 46 to 122, but alliance partners who were allotted 28 seats to contest could win just 1 seat.
He further said that if alliance partners could win seats in proportion to BJP’s tally, BJP could form government with clear majority with its pre-poll alliance partners.
Raju Shetty-led Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana, the Rashtriya Samaj Party of Mahadeo Jankar, the Ramdas Athavale-led RPI and Vinayak Mete’s Shiv Sangram Sanghatana were BJP’s alliance partners who were allotted 28 seats to contest. Of them only Rashtriya Samaj Paksha has been able to win 1 seat, while others are at zero.
