Ahmedabad, 4 November 2014
Ahmedabad city Mayor was to travel to Spain during 12-16 November, and entire cost for her travel and stay was to be spent by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. However it seems the state Chief Minister or higher-ups in party have asked to drop this tour to avoid any controversy when elections of AMC are scheduled next year. As a result, Mayor has cancelled her tour.
As per the Standing Committee decision taken last month, Mayor Minakshi Patel was to travel to Valladolid in Spain during 12-16 November to visit “Discovering of Ahmedabad” exhibition which is going to be organized as part of the Cultural Heritage and Management Venture Lab in Ahmedabad project, following a friendship agreement signed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) and Valladolid city in tourism and heritage sectors in October 2008.
Minakshiben was to visit Spain with Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Heritage Shri Dilip Gor. AMC was to bear the expenses of their visit. As per the Standing Committee decision, both were to be considered on job during their absence at AMC.
