Two organizations – Confederation of All India Traders and Federation of Information Technology Association of Gujarat on Thursday protested against electronics manufacturers for not treating online and retail traders equally.
On Thursday, all major cities across Gujarat witnessed, rallies, press conferences and other events on this issue.
According to Jayendra Tanna, National Vice President, Confederation of All India Traders, online firms offer heavy discount on electronics, ready-made, footwear, consumer goods items which has damaged 30-50% business of traditional local traders.
According to Gaurang Vyas, President, Federation of Information Technology Association of Gujarat, all leading electronics manufacturers were maintaining standards of operating price with dealers for last two decades. On same parameters, operating price standards must be maintained between e-portals and dealers. He clarified that protest programmes are not against online sellers but against companies that don’t offer equal ground.
Traders said that they shall stop purchasing new stock from manufacturers from 17 November if there’s no solution to this problem.
