Bhuj, DeshGujarat, 16 November 2014
In district level get-togather of Kutch BJP, Rajya Sabha MP Mansukh Mandavia declared Rs. 75 lakh grant from his fund to Abadasa taluka. Madnavia is from Bhavnagar district. He declared fund for Abdasa taluka because it is represented by Congress MLA. Madnavia initially announced Rs. 50 lakh for Abdasa, Lakhpat and Nakhatrana talukas that are represented in assembly by Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil. Later district BJP president Pankaj Mehta told Mandavia that Rs. 50 lakh allocation was not enough. Reacting to this, Mandavia immediately announced Rs. 25 lakh more which was welcomed by party workers present there.
It has to be noted here that there’s a history of Abdasa seat that it doesn’t elect same person twice. Shaktisinh who belongs to Bhavnagar district fought and won Abdasa seat in Kutch district in by-poll this year by margin of less than 800 votes mainly due to Kshatriya+Muslims equation and alleged anti-party activity by former BJP MLA here. BJP however continues to believe firmly that Abdasa was and is BJP seat and will be regained in year 2017 assembly general elections.
In same get-together function, minister of state and party MLA Tarachand Chheda asked party workers to enroll 5 lakh members in Kutch district during ongoing Sangathan Parva. Referring to panchayat and municipality polls scheduled to take place in last quarter of next year, Chheda expressed worries about party’s performance in municipalities. He said he has no major worries about district panchayat, but he has some concerns about municipalities. He asked municipal Councillors to utilize grants available to them worth lakhs and crores of Rupees properly and in responsible manner and work hard.
