Agra, 21 November 2014
The decks have been cleared for the launch of India’s first high speed train that will link New Delhi and the Taj city of Agra — in 105 minutes. The railway ministry is yet to decide the date for the inaugural run.
An official statement here said the coaches for Gatiman Express had reached New Delhi from Kapurthala in Punjab. Two successful trials have been held July 3 and Sep 11.
When the service starts, the train will leave the national capital at 8 a.m. and reach Agra Cantt railway station at 9.45 a.m. It will depart Agra at 5.30 p.m. and reach New Delhi at 7.15 p.m.
The coaches will have automatic sliding doors — a la Delhi Metro.
