BKS questions cooperatives over not joining cotton agitation

Rajkot, 7 December 2014

Gujarat’s biggest farmers organization Bharatiya Kisan Sangh(BKS) alleged that various organizations associated with farmers are not joining its protest over Cotton MSP price due to political pressure.

BKS said the agitation for minimum support price(MSP) hike in cotton crop is going on for last one month, but marketing yards, district cooperative bank mandlis, milk mandlis, district sangh etc are not joining the agitation due to political pressure.

BKS said government is taking too much time to declare bonus or increase in MSP. It is advisable that government makes announcement in this regard in next five days or so because farmers have already sold 50% of their produce already. In next twenty days, they will sell even rest of the stock.

BKS has organized another protest rally, this time in Morbi on Monday at Shanala road over the issue of cotton.

Meanwhile government sources in Gandhinagar indicate that government may this week make announcement on Cotton price.
