Ahmedabad, 9 December 2014
Food and Civil Supply department has asked district level puravtha officers to conduct surprise check at fair price shops following complains in implementation of bar coded ration card system.
Government believes that introduction of bar-coded system has prevented scams at store level and completely stopped diversion of food meant for poor by store owners.
With bar-coded system effective, fair price shops need to issue coupon only after biometric data of consumer is matched
Civil supply department has prepared a list of suspected fair price shops where surprise visits are to be paid by enforcement wing officials.
