Selected AMTS buses to use BRTS lane in Ahmedabad
December 17, 2014
Ahmedabad
It’s a strange situation in parts of Ahmedabad at present.
On one side, considerably good size of road surface has been reserved only for BRTS buses by creating BRTS lane, while on the other side, a narrow road left for regular traffic, suffers jam mainly because State Transport(ST) and AMTS buses travel there, occupying good size of surface.
The simple question is, why all government buses can’t run in BRTS lane to leave other lanes less congested for smooth run of small vehicles?
It seems, the AMC has lately realized need to do this.
According to officials, AMTS is soon likely to run its 35 buses in dedicated BRTS lanes where they are available. The buses operated by AMTS will use BRTS lane where it is available, and will also run in mix lanes where BRTS lane is not available. BRTS will hand over 35 buses to AMTS in next one month or so. In first phase busy traffic stretches of Lal Darwaja-Sarangpur and Narol-Naroda are selected for this experiment.
