Puducherry
Leaders and volunteers of the left parties and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) today staged a joint demonstration here demanding that government monitor the functioning of the Aurobindo Ashram, which has been in eye of controversy for some days now.
CPI State Committee Secretary R.Viswanathan led the agitation in which his CPI (M) counterpart R.Rajangam and leaders of VCK, CPI (M.L), RSP and Forward Block participated.
Slogans were raised against the Ashram and a CBI probe sought into the all aspects of the `sufferings` of the five sisters from Bihar, who were evicted from an ashram premises leading to alleged suicide by two of them.
