For the first time, Gujarat Government has taken a decision to give the fast growing ‘exhibition organizing activity’ an industry status. The government is also prepared to announce a new incentive policy shortly before the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in mid-January.
Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar where the mega exhibitions of Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Pravsi Bhartiya Divas(PBD) and thereafter the ‘Plast India’ are schedule to take place in January -February has emerged as the key exhibition Centre in India after Delhi & Mumbai.
Exhibition is becoming a major industry in India and also in the world, as regular exhibitions from industrial products to wedding products do take place round the year.
According to a report by Edelweiss Capital, India’s exhibition industry at present is worth US$ 160m and it has potential to grow to US$ 990m by 2020. Gujarat Government wants to grab this opportunity by giving financial incentives and infrastructure support to the mega exhibitors. Growth of exhibition industry in state can fuel the growth of tourism and hospitality industry and number of other industries too.
