Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat

Nationwide debates on religious conversation and film PK has triggered revival of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal in Gujarat.

A list of centers in Gujarat where PK film faced protest by VHP workers is long enough to support this statement.

On Tuesday, Kapadvanj, Dhrangadhra, Gandhidham, Surat, Vadodara, Bharuch, Modasa, Himmatnagar among other places across Gujarat witnessed small groups of VHP/Bajrang Dal karyakartas holding protests against Aamir Khan starer film PK. None protest campaign of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal has been so successful and widespread in Gujarat in last many years.

At least at three centers including Dhrangadhra and Himmatnagar, VHP workers successfully convinced multiplex owners to discontinue the shows of PK.

In Vadodara, VHP workers burnt Aamir Khan in effigy. Police detained at least 30 VHP workers.

In other development, Navrangpura police in Ahmedabad detained two Bajrang Dal workers in connection with attacks on two multiplexes yesterday on Ashram road area.

During the Narendra Modi government, VHP and Bajrang Dal were in comma. There was hardly any response to their any agitation call. In fact in media and among people, VHP was just not taken seriously enough. It seems, the debate on religious conversation and film PK has given new life to VHP in Gujarat.
