Gujarat’s Coastal Zone Management Plan which is getting delayed since last two years is likely to be prepared soon as the state Government has started expediting it.

Different aspects & methodology for preparation of Gujarat Coastal Zone Management Plan were discussed and after detailed deliberations at a recent high level meeting it was decided to expedite it.
For the habited areas and vulnerable areas, fresh ground demarcation would be done by the Chennai based Anna University and based on that the CRZ maps would be prepared.

For other areas, the maps prepared by the BISAG(Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG) will be used and if need be Geo-referenced and superimposition of HTL, LTL etc will be done by Anna University.

Area having discrepancies would be identified and in such cases, both area verification and geo-references would be done by Anna University and CRZ maps would be prepared.

The SAC, Ahmedabad was requested to take up the work for preparation of the Coastal Zone Management Plan for the State of Gujarat in accordance with the Guidelines issued under CRZ Notification 2011. However, SAC expressed its limitation for providing the CRZ maps as per the latest data so the state government is doing on it’s own by the help of BISAG.
