Chennai
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tonight met AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence here in the first high profile visit after the former chief minister was let on bail in a disproportionate wealth case.
An AIADMK release said Jayalalithaa received Jaitley “warmly. It was a courtesy call which lasted for 40 minutes”, it added.
The meeting comes in the wake of the Centre’s move to drum up support for ordinances, including coal block allocation in a likely joint parliamentary session of the two Houses.
In the Lok Sabha, AIADMK is the second largest opposition party after Congress with 37 MPs.
The AIADMK has 11 members in the Rajya Sabha.
