Vadodara, DeshGujarat

After terrible period of 15 months, finally it’s celebration time for Pandya family in Vadodara today, as family member Sanket Pandya is returning from Iran after 15 months.

Sanket Pandya is returning back to Sardar Patel airport in Ahmedabad at 9.00 pm today from where he will reach Vadodara at his home where family members are all prepared to welcome him with garba, crackers and sweets.

Two Indian engineers Sanket Pandya from Vadodara and his colleague, Mohammed Hussain Khan, from Haryana were stranded in Iran for last 15 months due to a techno-commercial issue between the two companies – one in Iran and the other in Goa in India for which Sanket and Muhammed were working.

Both engineers were a part of a team of a Goa-based company that had gone to Zanjan in Iran in November to commission a power plant. They were kept at a guest house in Zanjan. In December Some complications in a power generator caused dispute between Goa based firm and Zanjan based company. The company in Iran took away passports of Sanket and Khan saying that they needed to complete formalities. Later, they were told that their hospitality was being discontinued and the passports were not with the company. After then Vadodara MP Balu Shukla took up the issue with the central government, Sanket and Khan were provided accommodation in a hotel by the Indian embassy. However, they were not allowed to return to India.

In the month of March last year, both Pandya and Khan had made an emotional appeal for their return through a video they recorded in their hotel room in Tehran. The video had been uploaded on Youtube.

Sanket’s wife, mother and father had written letters to Goa Chief Minister to press Goa based Power Engineering Company to solve dispute with Iranian company. Family members had also contacted MPs, Chief Minister and even Prime Minister for return of Sanket Pandya.

Finally all modalities are over and Sanket Pandya is coming back. Sanketbhai’s father thanked Indian government for return of Sanket.
