Frustration and anger among BJP supporters in pockets of Bharuch

Bharuch, DeshGujarat

More than 80 workers of BJP in Ankleshwar taluka of central Gujarat’s Bharuch district submitted their resignations yesterday to protest state’s inaction against illegal shrimp ponds in Aliyabet area. They claim that illegal shrimp farm operators are involved in communal clashes in Hansot village in which three persons including two Hindu youths were killed.

BJP workers said, even after their numerous complains against illegal shrimp farming ponds in Aliyabet area, the government just didn’t take any action.

Party workers are highly disappointed that though they made representation even in presence of Chief Minister and district guardian minister, and asked for strict actions against illegal shrimp farms of Aliya bet, the state government just didn’t take any action. They said the state government was clearly informed again and again about connection between thriving anti social communal elements and shrimp farms, but there was no action!

BJP workers and people at large in this belt of central Gujarat firmly believe that recent communal clash in Hansot was a result of government’s inaction against illegal shrimp farming ponds of Aliyabet.

It is believed that Ankleshwar MLA Ishwarsinh Patel also wished to submit his resignation yesterday in frustration and anger, but he was prevented to do so by district BJP leadership in a meeting at Pandvai sugar factory. MLA Ishwarsinh Patel is probably upset after slogans shouted against him during funeral procession of two Hindu youths who were killed by a mob of Muslims in Hansot associated with Pappu Khokhar and Sabir Kanuga who are involved in illegal shrimp farming activity.

At Bharuch circuit house, BJP state general secretary Bharatsinh Parmar, MoS in centre Mansukh Vasava, MLA Arunsinh Rana, Dushyantbhai Patel, district panchayat chief Manhar Gohil and district general secretary of party Janak Shah held another closed door meeting with party leaders from Hansot and prevented Hansot BJP leaders from submitting resignations.

However over 80 party workers from Ankleshwar town and taluka were in no mood of compromise, and they just submitted their resignations.

When contacted, district BJP president said he had received no resignation.

District panchayat member Pratikshaben Patel who submitted her resignation yesterday said, she doesn’t mind whether her resignation is accepted or not. She said she has three villages in her constituency area, and she is just not able to visit these villages due to the recent incidents and shrimp farm issue.

Ankleshwar taluka general secretary of BJP Hitendra Solanki was also of same opinion. He said party workers made number of representations but state leadership just didn’t act.

It should be mentioned here that Pappu Khokhar, husband of lady sarpanch of Hansot has been recently arrested. He has 29 offenses registered against him in different police stations. Sabir Kanuga, another accused has 16 offenses registered against him. Both were believed master mind in illegal shrimp farming activity spread over 8,500 had government land in Aliyabet. Government had raided this activity with strength of 700 employees last year in the month of May. Sabir Kanuga’s release from PASA on parole was one reason why locals were unhappy.
