The Himachal Pradesh Assembly will go totally paperless from the coming Budget Session and all documents will be made available to members and the media online.
Speaker Brij Bihari Lal Butail today said only hard copies of the Chief Minister’s budget speech would be provided to the members and the press while all other documents including the Governor’s address would be available online and a CD would also be given.
The Himachal Assembly emerged as first legislature in the country to implement e-Vidhan from the Monsoon Session last year. However, during the Monsoon Session, the Assembly Secretariat also supplied hard copies of documents to the media and members on demand but this alternative would not be available this time.
“I have discussed the matter with members of the ruling and opposition parties and also the officials and there was no disagreement from any quarter and the Vidhan Sabha would be totally paperless during the Budget Session,” Butail added.
The Assembly Secretariat had sent a detailed project report to the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY) of the Government of India in 2010-11 and a MoU was signed with National Informatics Centre Services Inc (NICSI) for implementation of?the e-Vidhan?Project.
The total amount sanctioned for this project by DEITY is Rs 8.12 crore and the first installment of Rs 4.06 crore has been received by NICSI,?which?provides total IT solutions to the government organisations.
