Some pictures, and some questions!

Hinduism and India as a society need big-time reform(you may say resurgence or correction or renaissance). Look at the pictures here. This is not some gutter or garbage removal place. This is a religious place. This is what we call ‘pavitra kund’, where people on pilgrimage are supposed to take bath in pure water!

Just look at the pictures, what is the condition of this ‘pavitra kund’!

This is how we treat our water bodies!

This is how we disposes off garbage and discharge drainage!

How disgusting to say that this is our religious place, forget public place!

This kund is not located at some unimportant place in some corner. It is located in Somnath, which is a pilgrim place of prime importance for Hindus.

This kunda is called Prachi kund.

There’s a proverb ‘So vaar Kaashi, ek vaar Praachi’. It means you need to go Prachi for once and it is considered equal to your 100 pilgrim tours to Kashi.

It is believed that Dharmaraja had performed Moksha of Kaurava kul and Yadukul in this Prachi kund.

Prachi kund is a destination where Saraswati river flows to eastern direction.

Locals say, Gandhiji and Kasturba had visited Prachi.

After recent report in local newspaper about worst condition of Prachi kund, today around 60 youths and laborers started cleaning task here. Employees of Shri Somnath Trust, sanitation staff, journalist Dipak Joshi, social volunteers from Kodinar etc joined this task.

The question is, even after the best attempt of volunteers to clean it, for how long this kunda will remain clean?

In this nation, there are thousands of swimming pools, and we can keep them clean and hygienic, then why this kunda which is situated in top pilgrim destination of Hindu faith should be in such a shameful condition?

Where does our donation money go?

Where are our management skills to take care of our pilgrim places which are also tourist places?

Why don’t we feel shame when we see this condition of our pilgrim places? Why dirty, filthy places fail to shock us?

Where is our common sense forget civic sense?
