Kejriwal meets PM, seeks full statehood for Delhi, PM not to attend swearing-in

New Delhi

Delhi CM-designate Arvind Kejriwal today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The pre-scheduled time of meeting was 10.30 am. Kejriwal with party MLA Manish Sisodia reached Prime Minister’s residence at 10.30 am. He extended invitation to Prime Minister to attend his oath taking function on 14 February. Prime Minister cordially declined it as he has pre-scheduled visit to Maharashtra on that day for which he would leave Delhi early in the morning and would return late in the evening. The meeting lasted for close to half an hour, after which Kejriwal returned to his home as he is suffering from fever for last two days.

Manish Sisodia crossed the road outside the Prime Minister’s resident to speak to over 100 media persons waiting for his byte. Sisodia told media persons, “people have elected AAP with full majority in Delhi. Earlier they have elected BJP with full majority at centre. Both AAP and BJP are enjoying full majority governments and they should together resolve the issue of full statehood to Delhi. This is only one golden opportunity when there are full majority governments in Delhi and centre. PM assured to look into it.”
