AAP not to contest elections in other states for five years, indicates Kejriwal

New Delhi

Addressing AAP supporters at Ramlila maidan, new Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal today after taking oath in his speech indicated that Aam Aadmi Party will not contest elections in other states anytime soon and will continue to focus on Delhi for next five years. Kejriwal in his speech said, I have heard news that we will fight elections in other states. This is not right. I feel it is wrong to say that we will contest elections in several states. This is a sign of hubris. He said, AAP became arrogant and fought Lok Sabha elections from other states and was taught a lesson.

Kejeiwal said: “For last few days I hear on TV, our some people say we will fight elections here and there, we will contest elections of five states and ten states. This shows some arrogance. This is not proper. Why Congress lost polls? Because Congress suffered from arrogance. BJP won all Lok Sabha seats in the month of May in Delhi, but why people defeated them here in assembly polls? That’s because of arrogance. Last time we won 28 seats in Delhi, and suffered from arrogance and we decided to go nationwide to contest all elections and God punished us for our arrogance. We realized that in Lok Sabha elections very well. We should learn a lesson from that experiene. We should not have arrogance. I have taken a decision. God has asked me. People of Delhi have asked me. People of Delhi have given love to me. They have kept faith on me. I will serve only and only serve people of Delhi for next five years by limiting myself to Delhi.”
