The Government of Gujarat has proposed first of it’s kind Textile University at Surat which will offer engineering to management course as per the need of the textile industry in the state.

Sources close to the development informed that, “the state government has decided to propose a new textile university close to the Surat’s upcoming dream city and diamond burse project. Initially the state government has decided to pump around Rs.10 crore in upcoming financial year which will be increased gradually. The university will focus on creating required work-force for the rapidly growing industry and offer Diploma to degree courses in the textile field.”

Gujarat’s textile market is estimated to be around US$ 25 billion by 2017. The state Government also intends to invest around US$ 3.28 billion in next 5 years.
