In his speech in Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said he salutes General VK Singh for evacuation mission in Yemen.
Modi said, “it was for the first time in the world that any government minister was standing in a field and working.”
“I salute Generak VK Singh,” he said.
Modi said, on our request, each day bombarding was stopped for two hours to evacuate maximum Indians.
“This is not a small incident. You go through all global newspapers and TV channels how they have recognized India’s evacuation mission,” he said.
“If you were in social media, you might have seen that if at 1.00 am someone tweeted Sushmaji, the reply was given at 1.10 am and concerned embassy was instructed immediately. Within one hour the person was contacted. Can you imagine, foreign ministry working in such a way anytime in the past?”
“And who were those people trapped there? They were not rich people. They were laborers. They were poor people. There were our daughters working as nurse.”
“If by birth we had nature of politics, our party would have organized grand felicitation of Sushmaji and VK Singh for successful return of thousands of people particularly in Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. But by nature, we are not so enthusiastic about recognition of our achievements.”
“But respect has been earned, and place in the hearts of people has been achieved.”
