Hoax bomb threat in Vadodara: Mumbai bound double decker train stopped

Vadodara

Another ‘bomb threat’, which eventually turned out to be a ‘hoax’ late last night put the Vadodara police in tizzy and resulted in a 10 minute thorough search operation in the Ahmedabad-Mumbai double decker train at the city railway station today by the sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squad, Police sources said.

The call was made to the city police control room from the same number which was used for a similar call on Sunday evening which had claimed falsely that there were bombs planted in the city bus stand and railway station.

The caller during both the calls identified himself as Yakoob, the sources said.

‘Hello This is Yakoob speaking. The double decker Ahmedabad-Mumbai will be blasted with bombs tomorrow,’ the caller threatened.

The latest call was received at around 1 am last night following which the police without wasting time informed the railway police and other authorities.

Earlier the police had nabbed a youth from the Shashtrinagar area of the city by tracing the sim details of the caller. He, however, said that his sim was lost a month ago and he had already given a de-activation request. ‘The boy was right and innocent so we left him. In fact the calls were being made through the emergency option of the sim which enables even de-activated sims to make calls. However, our investigation was on and we are trying to nab this man at the earliest,’ the sources in city crime branch said.

After the first threat call on Sunday the police had thoroughly searched the bus stop and all the seven platforms of the railway station but did not find anything.
