China House opens in Ahmedabad

The city of Ahmedabad has now an authentic chinese restaurant with Chinese cook. The restaurant ‘China House’ is going to be opened today with dinner session in presence of invited guest. Prior to opening, media persons were taken on introductory round of the restaurant.

China House is originally based in Mumbai in Grand Hyatt hotel. The Amdavadi avatar of this restaurant is located at Hyatt Regency on Ashram road.

On this occasion, Mr Gopinath Gopalan, General Manager of Hyatt Regency declared that the biggest chopstick of the world showcased in hotel lobby has been certified as record-holder by Limca Book of Records. The tallest chopstick in the world so far was 23 ft in size in China. The chopstick that has been showcased at Grand Hyatt, Ahmedabad is 35 ft tall, he said.

He said, China House, Ahmedabad becomes the first restaurant in Gujarat to have a Chinese chef. He has worked in Mumbai and in China and for last two months he is in Ahmedabad to setup China House restaurant here. Chinese chef Li will continue to stay here to serve authentic Chinese taste. He added that the taste of Chinese cuisine is different when it is cooked by a Chinese chef.

With 210-rooms, Hyatt Regency is the biggest five-star hotel in Ahmedabad, media persons were informed. The hotel has 19 suits and 2 restaurants including the one opened today.

Media persons were briefed that the guests who stay at this hotel would prefer to have multiple choices of cuisine, and therefore the hotel has opened an Italian and now a Chinese restaurant.

Considering the vegetarian preference of food in Gujarat, the Ahmedabad version of China House has more vegetarian dishes compared to non-veg dishes. This is happening for the first time when it comes to authentic Chinese food restaurant of this scale.

From soup to desert, there are total 28 vegetarian items against 22 non-vegetarian items in China House, Ahmedabad menu.

One unique feature of China House Ahmedabad is different styles of sitting in different section. One can sit with friends and watch Ashram road from window, or one can sit with business leaders or family in presidential type decorated room, or one can simply sit next to the cooking area which is transparent with glass walls.

Ahmedabad has started witnessing increasing number of arrivals of Chinese visitors/guests in recent past. With in-house authentic Chinese restaurant and Chinese cook, Hyatt Regency wishes to position itself as the first choice of Chinese guests in Ahmedabad.

In globalized world, such restaurants are considered soft infrastructure. The city of Ahmedabad has in recent years witnessed opening of a Japanese authentic restaurant too.
