BJP workers burn effigy of "mentally unstable" MLA Nalin Kotadiya

Amreli

Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) workers joined by local BJP member of parliament(MP) Naranbhai Kachhadia today burnt Member of Legislative Council(MLA) Nalin Kotadiya in effigy for his threat to kill lions of Gir jungle.

Nalin Kotadiya, elected as candidate of Keshubhai Patel led former Gujarat Parivartan Party(GPP) from Dhari constituency is heading an agitation against proposed eco-sensitive zone around Gir jungle area. He believes that eco-sensitive zone execution will harm the interests of people living in his constituency area which is located next to the jungle. However the state government and forest department have contradicted Kotadiy’s version. They say Kotadiya is misguiding local people against eco-sensitive zone. The zone is going to be imposed as per directive by court and it will not harm livelihoods of local people.

Kotadiya shamefully crossed all limits yesterday in one of the public meetings, and asked local people, “if our rights, if our employment, our bread is under attack, we will even kill the lions.”

Lodging strong protest against Kotadiya’s such irresponsible remark, BJP workers in Savarkundla today burnt him in effigy. BJP MP Naranbhai Kachhadiya who was present during the protest said Kotadiya is mentally unstable. There’s a provision of 7 years imprisonment for killing a lion. Kotadiya was never in BJP and will never be in the BJP in future too. I can’t understand why people gave him vote. Till now we had doubt that he may be mentally unstable, but now we are sure that he is mentally unstable and he should be treated.

In related development, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel while speaking in a function at Bhavnagar expressed sadness about such a statement by Kotadiya.

Kotadiya has been in news in recent months for rebelling against the state government over the issues of eco-sensitive zone and Other Backward Class(OBC) status to Patel caste.
